SMS Opt-Out Policy
Varinder Rathore MD. PC., doing business as Restore Wellness Psychiatry (“we,” “us,” “our”), uses text messaging (SMS) to support patient care. This policy explains how it works and how to stop messages at any time.
1. Consent
By providing your mobile phone number on our forms, at intake, or through our patient portal, you consent to receive text messages from us related to your care and our practice as described below. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing goods or services from us. For marketing messages, we obtain separate express written consent as required by law.
2. Types of messages you may receive
- Appointment reminders and scheduling. Confirmations, reminders, reschedules, cancellations, wait-list openings, and intake instructions.
- Two-way patient communication. Non-urgent messages between you and our front desk or clinical team — for example, replies to scheduling questions, requests for information, or follow-up instructions.
- Practice announcements and occasional marketing. Only if you have given separate express written consent. Examples include new services, educational content, or provider availability updates.
3. Message frequency
Frequency varies based on your activity with the practice. Reminder and care-related messages are sent as needed. Marketing messages, when enabled, are sent no more often than a few times per month.
4. How to opt out
You can opt out at any time. Reply to any message with any of the following keywords: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT. After you opt out, we will send one confirmation message and will not send further SMS messages to that number, except that we may still contact you by other means (phone or email) about your care.
You can also opt out by calling (845) 231-0321 or emailing info@restorewellnesspsych.com.
5. How to get help
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us at (845) 231-0321 or info@restorewellnesspsych.com. For medical emergencies, do not use SMS — call 988 or dial 911.
6. Costs
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan. We do not charge for text messages, but your carrier may.
7. Supported carriers
SMS service is available on major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to carrier network conditions.
8. Privacy and PHI
We treat information you send by SMS in accordance with our Privacy Policy and, where applicable, our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. SMS is not a fully secure channel; message content may be visible on your device’s lock screen and can be intercepted. Please avoid sending detailed clinical information by text. For sensitive communication, use our patient portal or contact the office by phone.
We do not sell mobile phone numbers, and we do not share them with third parties for their marketing. Our SMS provider processes messages on our behalf under a written confidentiality obligation.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this SMS Opt-Out Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted prominently on this page.
